The swim and water safety experts at Goldfish Swim School share practical tips and skills to help you have a safer summer
The staff at Goldfish Swim School work on basic safety skills with their students every week in lessons. During the month of May the Goldfish team is partnering with Northeast Ohio Family Fun to share FOUR basic water safety tips that parents can work on with their kids anytime they are in the pool this summer.
This month, we’ve introduced the basics on how to safely get out of the pool: Elbow, Elbow, Tummy, Knee and Jump, Turn, Swim to the Wall and the Sea Otter Float. This week we are focusing on treading water!
Learning to tread water is an essential skill to build up core strength. This skill also keeps your child afloat if he is in deep water. Kids build up their confidence by successfully treading water for longer and longer periods of time. Head back and get those arms and legs moving!
Check out this video to learn more about how to work on this basic skill with your little swimmer!
While working on all of these water safety skills, keep in mind that your time together in the water should be positive and fun! Kids will make progress if you work on these skills regularly and celebrate their successes!
