By now, you may have noticed that I really enjoy Christmas Lights. I love the beautifully decorated houses ranging from the ones with simple white lights and wreaths, to the more elaborate displays set to music.
I had the opportunity to talk with Jeff Phillips the creator of Mad Town Lights and today I'm going to share a little about his display.
About ‘Mad Town Lights'
2012 marks the 3rd year for the ‘Mad Town Lights' display which contains approximately 40,000 lights that are synchronized to various Christmas songs including: Carol-of-the-bells, Holly Jolly Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies and more. The complete show consists of 17 songs and lasts just under 50 minutes.
One of my favorite aspects of Jeff's display is how precise and detailed it is. Take a moment to look at the perfectly shaped holly leaves, trees and word ‘Believe' in the picture above.
Jeff noted that “Putting on an animated display takes a lot of planning and work.” In fact, he spends most of the year working on his “year-round hobby.”
So what makes him spend so much time on his display? “Christmas is my favorite time of year and I love seeing the lights, not only on my house, but on eveyone else's house too!” I couldn't agree with him more.
