It's always important to take time to help out those less fortunate, and during the holidays there are many opportunities to do so. One of the ways we do this is by participating in Operation Christmas Child.
How to Participate in Operation Christmas Child
Step 1 – Grab an empty shoebox or small plastic container with a lid. If desired, you can wrap the box and lid separately (they have to be able to open the box once you drop it off). Don't have a shoebox? Stop by a local shoe store and ask if they have any extras they can give you. In addition, various churches pass them out for Free.
Step 2 – Select the gender and age group you want to provide a gift for. There are three different age categories for boys and three different age categories for girls. Find out more here.
Step 3 – Purchase items to fill the box. Toys, school supplies, personal care & hygiene items are great options. Find additional gift ideas here. In addition to the gifts, you can include a personal note or have your children color pictures.
Step 4 – To cover the shipping and other project costs, include $7 for each box you donate. You can give online, or include a check in the box. Find Additional instructions here. NOTE: If you give online and provided an email address, you will be emailed when your box arrives so you will know what country it was sent to.
Step 5 – Place a rubber band around each closed shoe box and drop it off at one of the drop off locations during the week of November 12-30, 2017. There are many drop off locations in Northeast Ohio. Find one near you.
