Free outdoor movies during the summer months are a fun way to spend a summer evening. Never been to an open-air cinema to see a movie under the stars? Well, you're in luck because we've got tips to make your experience the best it can be and details on where you can watch outdoor movies in Northeast Ohio this year.
Top Tips for a Successful Outdoor Movie Night
Plan now which movies to see – Use our list below to choose the movie(s) you want to see and block the date in your calendar now. That way you don't forget when the day comes.
Pack your own snacks – Pack some drinks and things to snack on while the movie is playing. If you'd prefer to purchase your food. Order take-out on your way to the movie or purchase food onsite if the venue offers it.
Bring something comfortable to sit on – Sitting on the ground is not comfortable, so bring along a blanket, low-backed chair, or even a bean bag to sit on. If you plan to sit up front near the screen, make sure to bring low-backed lawn chairs so you don't block the view of the people behind you.
Use extra blankets to stay warm – Even summer evenings can get chilly when the sun goes down. Bring extra blankets to use to stay warm.
Bring bug spray – You never know if you'll need it but if the bugs are out, you'll be really thankful you have some.
Check the forecast before you go – Most of the events are weather-dependent. Always check the host website or Facebook page if the weather forecast doesn't look promising
Have the kids rest prior to coming – Most of the time, movies end pretty late into the evening. If this means your kids will be up past their normal bedtime, consider having them take a nap or rest for a while before coming.
Arrive early – Arrive early to set up your spot. Most of the events have pre-movie activities or a nearby playground that the kids can enjoy before the movie starts.
Pick your movie-watching spot carefully – If you think you're kids will get antsy, pick a spot to sit along the edge so you can make a quick exit or let your kids move around a bit without bothering other families.

Kathleen,
Unfortunately, I haven’t found any details on outdoor movies being help in Lorain County. Last year the Lorain County Metro parks held a couple events. Once I find out if they (or any place else) in Lorain County are hosting events, I’ll add them to the list.

How can we get Trumbull County to sponsor some outdoor movie nights? Everyone complains about the kids getting into mischief, then give them something to look forward to!
