Well, the woollybears were right. It has been a really mild winter. Sure, it hasn’t helped the winter festivals so much, but we’re already moving into some springtime festivals with maple syrup, buzzards and the crowning of Miss Dyngus.
You gotta love Ohio!
Here are NE Ohio festivals taking place in March that you may or may not know about…
Maple Syrup Festival at Malabar Farms
Maple Syrup Festival – Saturday March 5, Sunday March 6 and again Saturday March 12 and Sunday March 13, 2016 – Lucas: Once festival goers arrive at Malabar Farm, they can ride a horse-drawn wagon into the woods for maple syrup samples in the sugar shack, maple sugar demonstrations, music, food and historical displays. There are plenty of maple products in the store and a fantastic restaurant at the main farm that uses local ingredients. It’s a cute festival.

Buzzard Sunday – Sunday March 20, 2016 – Hinckley – Every year on March 15, the buzzards return to Hinckley and the Hinckley Reservation celebrates it on the following Sunday with children’s activities, music, food, animal presentations and some buzzards to see up close. A rather unique festival that celebrates a cool natural phenomenon.

Dyngus Day – Monday, March 28 – Cleveland: DJ Kishka brought us this Polish Easter Monday festival after he enjoyed it so much in Buffalo, NY. Now it has grown with plenty of polka, beer, pussy willow branches, squirt guns, fake beards, and the crowning of Miss Dyngus. The majority of events take place in the Gordon Square Arts District but there are also things going on in Tremont and Ohio City.
