Local attraction, Stan Hywet Hall & Garden's has introduced a new summer program for kids – The Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens Summer Kids Club. The program is designed for children ages 3 through 8, is held twice a month and is designed to teach kids about history, horticulture and architecture through hand-on activities and interactive demonstrations.
Stan Hywet Summer Kids Club Details
- Designed for ages 3 through 8
- Held twice a month, on Thursdays from 11:00am – 12:00pm
- Registration required a week prior to the course.
- Members: $10 per child with one adult or $56 for all eight programs
- Non-Members: $15 per child with one adult or $96 package price for all eight programs
Art of Photography: Photographing the Past
Thursday May 17th, 11:00am – 12:00pm
Participants will observe several historic photographs of Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and discover what the estate looked like 100 years ago. Then students will visit his darkroom to learn about how photographs were created prior to the digital camera. Be sure to bring your camera because the event will end with a photo scavenger hunt.
Art of Design: The Beauty of Stan Hywet

Come learn about building architects, landscape architects, and interior decorators and find out their roles in making Stan Hywet beautiful. Participants will also have a chance to tour the Manor House and grounds.
Art of Fashion: From Cufflinks to Compacts

Come learn about the clothing and accessories of the 1920s. You'll even get to try out the period clothing.
Art of Song: Opera, A Story in Song

Did you know that Mrs. Seiberling was an accomplished singer and enjoyed going to the opera? Participants in this class will enjoy a live performance and get to listen to a story.
Art of Dining: From Kitchen to Table

Come observe demonstrations on the ins-and-outs of dining at the Seiberlings’. You'll learn about food preparation, presentation and dining etiquette.
Art of Travel: Planning to See the World
Thursday, July 19th 11:00am – 12:00pm
During this class, participants will help plan a Seiberling family vacation; figuring out where to go and how to get there (people didn't fly commercially back then). We’ll also get a chance to help them pack!
Art of Letter Writing: When Correspondence was Personal

Discover the nearly lost art of letter writing by looking at some of the Seiberlings’ own hand-written letters. Participants will then have a chance to write a letter to a friend or family member.
