The Worona Family has been running their synchronized display located in Girard for three years. The setup consists of 80 channels and lights that dance to numerous Christmas songs. For an extra special treat, on certain Saturday's they have a fire going with free hot chocolate and other goodies.
We checked in with the creators, Lauren and Vern Worona to find out more about their display.
All About Worona Family Christmas Display
What are your favorite aspects of the display? Our favorite aspects of the display are seeing the smiles on our visitors' faces and meeting others that share our spirit! Some specific things visitors say they enjoy are our manger scene painted by Carol Novosel (a local artist and Vern's sister) and the hanging lights like the bells and stars.
What are some of the songs that it is synchronized to? We currently have about 40 songs created, but will be adding or rearranging some for this year because of some new light additions. Some of the songs you'll hear are your standard songs and carols, like “Jingle Bells,” “Silent Night,” and “Carol of the Bells.” Also- fun songs like “the Chipmunk Song” and “Linus and Lucy.” We also have Contemporary Christian Christmas renditions. Watch a video of the lights dancing to “the Chipmunk Song” here
How long does it take you to set up each year? It typically takes a week to set it up and longer to create songs
Why do you do it? Because it makes us happy! We love Christmas and celebrating in a fun way. It's also Vern's hobby.
