All About Tuba Christmas in Akron

Throughout the years, Tuba Christmas in Akron has been held at various venues, but currently, the performance is held at E.J. Thomas Hall and is free for those who wish to attend. 

Helpful Tip: Arrive at the hall 20-30 minutes early as it fills up quickly. Choose a seat on the balcony, which provides a good view of all the tubas and the Christmas decorations and attire that many of the performers wore and put on their instruments.

During the performance, the orchestra plays the song one time through then plays it again allowing the audience to join and sing along to the music. In addition, between each song, the conductor talks for a few minutes explaining the history of Tuba Christmas, discussing the various types of Tubas, introducing the performers and ear-old kids playing) and more. It’s such a fun interactive performance. 

Our favorite part was when they turned off the lights and the Tubas with the Christmas Lights glowed in the darkness. During the final song, the audience was even encouraged to ring their bells (many people brought their own) or jingle their keys to the music. Such a fun way to end a memorable performance.
