Top Tips for Visiting a Christmas Tree Farm
Plan now which farms to visit – Many farms host special holiday events and activities throughout the season. Use our list above to choose the event(s) you want to attend and block the date in your calendar now. That way you won’t forget when the day comes.
Set realistic expectations with your kids – With popular activities, large groups may be attending so prepare your children in advance that it may be difficult to see and hear everything. Help them understand that they may have to be patient and wait their turn, especially if they are looking forward to seeing Santa during your visit.
Arrive early – Or right on time. Holiday events are very popular and can become crowded fast. If you wait until the event is in full swing, you might not get to spend as much time enjoying each activity.
Be prepared to walk and stand – If the event day is dry, bring a stroller or wagon for little ones for when they need a break from walking.
Protect your kids (and yourself!) from the weather – Most of the events are held outdoors. Consider wearing layers so everyone is comfortable even in the cold. You may also want to wear warm boots so you don’t mind getting muddy if there is snow on the ground. You may even want to bring an extra pair of clean socks and shoes for the drive home.
Pack your own snacks – Pack plenty of water and bring along some food for the kids to snack on while they’re waiting. If you’d prefer to purchase your food, check to see if there will be food available to purchase onsite before you go.
Remember your camera – Make sure your phone is charged or bring along a camera to capture the fun kid/nativity photo ops.
Be sure to bring some cash money – Prepare for add-on activities and/or for buying a tasty snack by bringing plenty of cash money in case they don’t accept credit cards.
Check the forecast before you go – Most of the events are weather-dependent. Always check the host website or Facebook page if the weather forecast doesn’t look promising.
