We opted to visit Kings Island for our first family trip to an amusement park and had a great time.
Our kids are still young and we were extremely happy with the family friendly aspects of the park and the variety of rides and attractions that young children could go on. Below are some of the things we did while we we at the park.
Things to do at Kings Island for Kids
As soon as we arrived at the park we headed straight for Planet Snoopy, the special section of the park that is designed for young children. I was impressed with the variety and number of rides (just under 20) that had available for little kids.
While my 4 year old daughter had a blast on all the rides, my son (almost 7) enjoyed the roller coasters the most.
There were two coasters in Planet Snoopy, The Great Pumpkin Coaster (36inch height requirement) and The Woodstock Express (40inch height requirement). If needed, parents are able to ride both of the coaster with their children.
After our time in Planet Snoopy, my husband and son set out to ride Kings Island's famous wooden roller coaster, The Beast. Two weeks later and my son is still telling everyone about it!
While the guys were riding The Beast, my daughter and I went to the top of the Eiffel Tower and got a beautiful view of the entire park. It's 1/3 the size of the actual Eiffel Tower and is the highest point in the entire park.
This was a great consultation to the 4 year old who was two short to ride on The Beast. Her brother got to ride the roller coaster, but she got to go to the highest point of the park. Friendly competition among siblings!
Our last ride of the day was White Water Canyon. I especially liked the sign that greeted us as we made our way to the front of the line. I bet you'll never guess who ended up the wettest? Let's just say I've learned my lesson and will pack a towel for the car ride home next time!
And if riding in the raft wasn't fun enough, on our way off the ride we stumbled upon a lookout area where you can pay a quarter for the opportunity to spray water out of the colored cannon onto the innocent riders. The kids LOVED this!
See the lower right image in the picture above and you'll see my son dousing the riders on his turn to shoot the water cannon. Those poor people got drenched!
Overall, we had a wonderful time at Kings Island and would recommend it to any family with young children.
