Pick Strawberries at a Local Farm

There is nothing quite as tasty as freshly picked berries! Picking season only lasts a few weeks and the strawberries typically ripen in Ohio around the beginning of June. So mark your calendar and check out our list of area farms that offer strawberry picking to find one near you.

Watch a Movie Under the Stars

Drive in Movies in Ohio

Warm summer nights bring several unique movie watching opportunities, including outdoor Movies at local parks. Bring a blanket and enjoy the flick on the big screen. Of course, a heading to a drive in movie theater is another great option. With 9 spots in Northeast Ohio to choose from there is bound to be one near you.

Try a New Park or Playground

Pack a lunch and put on some sunscreen and head out to a few new parks this month. Watch the blimp at Wingfoot Lake State Park. Play and Try the zip line at Kids Quarters Park in Brecksville​. Walk the nature trail and take the kids to the playground at Fort Island/Griffiths Park. Slide down the two story slide at Orange Village Community Park.

Visit Berea Falls

At the base of Berea Falls

Berea Falls is part of the Rocky River Reservation and includes multiple smaller waterfalls along a small section of the river. There is a boardwalk that provides a look at the waterfall from above. Or you can take a short trail to walk down to the rocks along the waters edge.

Feed birds at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary

Checking out the birds of prey at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary

Located in Mansfield, The Ohio Bird Sanctuary provides visitors will a opportunity to enjoy an up-close look at unique birds. You’ll see eagles, hawks, owls, crows, songbirds, and more. Make sure to purchase a small cup of mealworms so you can hand-feed the birds in the aviary.  Spend time hiking the wooded trails and let the kids burn off energy in the Naturescape play area.

Try your luck at Past Times Arcade

Past Times pinball and video arcade

They have over 500 games including 350+ pinball machines. There is a flat fee for admission and you can play as many games and as log as you want! They even have stools available for kids so they can reach the games.

Soak up the sun at Huntington Beach

Cleveland Metroparks Huntington Beach

Located in Bay Village and part of Cleveland Metroparks, Huntington Beach is a beautiful place to swim, sunbathe, and take in amazing Lake Erie Views. The park offers a covered picnic pavilion, paddling access, restrooms, and lifeguards on duty during the summer months.  In 2023, Cleveland Metroparks added Karen’s Way Playspace a large natural play area for kids.

Rent a kayak (or bring your own) and spend the day on one of the local picturesque local lakes and rivers. You’ll enjoy the beautiful scenery and fresh air and get some exercise, too.
